Long Narrow Garden Design

Long, narrow gardens, like this one in Muswell Hill, North London, can easily feel like corridors which you want to pass through - rather than feeling like welcoming spaces in which you want to sit and relax. After a complete house renovation, our design conscious clients asked us to redesign their tricky outdoor space.

Our redesign breaks the space into a series of smaller, more welcoming ‘rooms’ on different levels. These gradually lead you through the garden, from the dining area, up past the focal point water feature to the contemporary garden office at the rear, ensuring that the whole garden is used. The borders were designed with a calming planting scheme of white flowering shrubs and perennials and the garden is now a much used outdoor space.
