P1000533 Front gardens are extremely important in welcoming our visitors, creating an important first impression and giving a property kerb appeal. And yet we often neglect them, as we make a dash for our front door... Last autumn, our clients in Hampstead Garden Suburb decided that they were bored with their uninspiring stretch of front lawn and asked us redesign the space. We designed a garden with traditionally English beds, sympathetic to the feel of this arts and crafts conservation area. Now the garden is framed with borders and the pathway lined with beautiful David Austin standard roses, underplanted with lavender, Buxus sempervirens and Geranium 'Patricia.'

P1000369 Many more people are now wanting to grow their own fruit, vegetables and herbs, giving them fun, satisfaction and peace of mind about where their food is coming from. Last autumn we created a design in the style of a kitchen garden, which combines structured, evergreen planting with soft perennials and a variety of edibles. Here you can see that the thyme and chives are now blooming, and sit happily alongside grasses and geraniums. Beans have just been planted around the wicker obelisk and the courgettes will soon grow to fill the last remaining gaps.
